Tattoo Aftercare: - Always wash hands before touching tattoo Remove bandage within 2-3 hours DO NOT re-bandage. - Wash with antibacterial liquid soap using hand DO NOT scrub or use anything besides your hand. Pat dry only!
First 3-4 days - Use small amounts of ointment on your tattoo. Such as Aquaphor, A&D or what is advised or approved by the artist and that you are not allergic to. - Rub it so it is not greasy or shiny. - Wash dry & apply ointment 3-5 times a day, as needed. - On the first night you may want to wrap your tattoo in saran wrap to prevent sticking to your bedding. - DO NOT use any cloth bandages or pads, the fibers can adhere to your tattoo & hinder the healing process. - Wear clean, loose soft fitting clothing for the first 2 weeks - nothing abrasive or irritating.
Foot Tattoos - You will want to try and go barefoot as much as possible. - Wrap in clean saran wrap then cover with cotton sock before wearing shoes while healing. Day 4: -Your tattoo may begin to peel this is normal. -DO NOT pick continue using a non-scented lotion 3 to 4 times a day for the next few days.
WHAT TO AVOID: - Picking, scratching, peeling, rubbing or irritating your tattoo in any way - Do not soak your tattoo for at least 2 weeks. - No swimming or hot tubs. - You should make sure not to expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 3 weeks. - When you do go in the sun always wear sunblock. - Do not wear jewelry or shoes that will rub against your tattoo. - If using any kind of gym equipment wash well before & after. - You should not let others touch your tattoo but if needed only allow after they have washed their hands.
WHAT YOU MAY DO: - Ice your & elevate your tattoo to reduce swelling - Take short showers If you follow the above instructions you avoid the chance of it becoming infected or damaged. Infections are red around the outside of the tattoo and may have a thin red lines extending from it. It may also bleed, ooze & develop puss.
